Ruby, the wiggle dancer

Jan 08

Finally. . . I slept in my own bed for the first time since Ruby’s surgery – heavenly!  Ruby and Latte resumed their normal sleeping arrangements in the garage.  Since Latte has to go outside about four times a night they both moved out there about two months ago.  It was hard enough for me to put them out there then, now I had to put a 3 legged, still slightly shaved Ruby out in the garage again.  Not easy . . . but everyone was fine in the morning, especially me, after a good night’s sleep!  Ruby is hopping up and down the two steps from the garage with no problem – haven’t let her tackle anything more yet.

Way to go Ruby! Glad you are settling in to a new normal.

Wow, such progress in only 1 month! Good for you, and Ruby. It sounds like things are getting easier for everyone.

I know how hard it is to put them in the garage. Our dog sleeps there, too. The weather is so cold, we have a dog heating pad under his bed. And I think he is a snow dog! He has so much fur he is still shedding in the middle of Winter.

Hi Verna! Yes, vet said “quality of life” should be about as it was before at 4 weeks and we’ve just reached that milestone (need to put up an “ampuversary” photo). Ruby’s her happy, tail wagging, playful s elf, thank God. She doesn’t want to even try the stairs to the upstairs so we’ll take our time with that. (It is kind of lonely in my office without them both at my feet!). We haven’t been any farther than the back yard – I think she needs to build up some endurance for walking any farther. Overall, we’ve survived! Thanks for all you support . . .

PS: re cold in garage – I did spend two nights again on the sofa this week when the temps dropped below 30 so they didn’t have to go in the garage 🙂
