Christmas morning . . .
A little bit of a rough morning for Ruby . . . she was panting somewhat last night which I believe is pretty normal post-amp, drugs, pain, etc. She seemed to sleep quietly all night. This morning when she stepped out of bed, she let out a screech that seemed to last a minute but probably only was about 10 seconds. I comforted her as she just stood totally still screeching. Once it passed, she seemed pretty normal (well, her new normal . . . ) and hopped outside without any help. After doing her biz, still waiting for the second #2, she ate her breakfast and laid at my feet for quite a while before I coaxed her back into her bed. She’s laid their quietly for a couple hours, looking pretty much the whole time like this picture. Very quiet and still, slightly fast breathing but not really panting. As I type this she’s popped her head up, is looking out the window and panting harder – still doesn’t exhibit any other signs of pain. I’d like her to just lay there as long as possible. Don’t really want to hear that screech again . . .
Oh yeah . . . let’s not forget the other one, Latte. She can’t really figure out why Ruby is getting all the attention and gets the really really nice ortho bed all to herself . . .

The picture of Ruby looks very typical of what my dog looked like. The noise? Well, they have to get used to so many new and different things that I always figured those meant “ouch I slept funny” or “holy crap, I’m not balanced” or maybe even “I don’t like this part yet,” so I think she’s ok. I really do.
Not the best Christmas maybe for you, but for Ruby it could be her best ever. And latte might want to join that oh-so-special club of monkeydogs!

Thanks Shari . . . Think I’m still a little on pins & needles. She’s seems better now. I think it was probably the “holy crap” option. She is loving the fact that she now gets treats any time she hops anywhere for anything . . .

Hi Cindy,
Ruby’s only front leg is getting a work out, her back must be hurting too. The screech was her way of grunting, “I’m using muscles I didn’t know I had & they’re sore, plus my head hurts from all of this extra bouncing around. Holy Crap!! Where’s my physical therapist?! I need a massage!!” Tell her Auntie Karen will see her in the morning (12/26) an will give her a gentle back rub, lots of ear fluffs and many, many kisses. Thanks!
We’re looking forwar to our visit with you, Ruby, Jim and Latte. Rest peacefully and will C-ya’ll 2malle AM!
Take care & may God bless and keep you healthy, happy, safe and at peace with many Happy Tails……
We Love You, Karen & Mike
P. S. Tomorrow, please fill us in on the term “monkeydogs”. Thanks!

Hi Ruby!
Thanks for the updates. I’m so proud of you! Sorry I haven’t written sooner. We were having our own Christmas trials and tribulations, but we made it through another one. You are an amazing girl. You’re my she-ro. I hope your second #2 is on its way for you. That should help your scoot along. Give your mom & dad a nice nudge and cuddle for me.
Kisses and rubs,
Verna

Hi Verna…Ruby’s napping so I’ll reply on her behalf. 🙂 We think there was a 2nd #2 but we’re groggy by osmosis from the drugs and have actually lost track. All seems to be functioning properly though. Hope your “trials and tribulations” have resolved… Thanks for being there for us. Your support has been felt daily!
